Nourish Your Mind

2020 challenged our community and country in ways we never expected. Multiple layers of stress and loss, layered with isolation and collective fear negatively impacted mental health and wellness in a whole new way.

This stress presented itself different for everyone. Some were "lucky enough" to feel out of shape, a little down or less vitality. Unfortunately, for many people, there were many additional and more severe symptoms including: anxiety & panic attacks, worry & nervousness, depression, insomnia, weight gain, food cravings, brain fog, inability to concentrate, fatigue, muscle/joint pain, and even suicidal thoughts.

We now know that our gut is considered our 2nd brain. Healing at a deeper cellular level and supporting the Gut-Brain Axis is vital for our mental health & wellness.

At Lake Pointe Wellness, we strive to always evolve and learn more to support our patients and our community.

Tips you can do TODAY to support your mental wellness:

  • Breathing & Meditation. If you are struggling with anxiety or insomnia, set your phone alarm to Pause and Breathe for 2-3 minutes 5x/day to ground and learn to “sit in stillness”. This is also great for anyone wanting to enhance their mindfulness.

  • Drink more water! Dehydration increases inflammation and toxicity.

  • Get outside! Fresh air and getting your feet in the earth does wonders for your brain and immune system.

  • Move! Any exercise is great. If you don’t have a routine, start with waking 10-20 minutes a day.

  • Orange Essential Oil. Place a drop or two in the palm of your hand and inhale. Ahhhh.

  • Laughter. Enough said! :)

For anyone who still struggling or not feeling as vibrant as they desire, we recommend scheduling an initial Functional Medicine consultation to create a plan for healing.
