Can you believe it’s the 3rd week of June?   The temperatures are rising and our activity levels are increasing.  This may keep you away from the house longer and also not interested in turning on a hot oven.  Smoothies and shakes are a convenient and quick way to keep you cool and nourished during your busy days.  We’re a fan of the blog My New Roots , by Sarah Britton.   Here’s a clever named and delicious smoothie for Summer.

The Mojito Smoothie

Serves 2 as a snack, 1 as a meal

Ingredients:
1 ½ cups nut milk or coconut water
3 Tbsp. hulled hemp seeds
½-1 tsp. spirulina (whatever you can handle)
4 Tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 avocado
1 frozen banana
2 dates, pitted
handful fresh mint leaves (20-25 leaves)

Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Taste and adjust flavours to your liking.
